Configuration - WordPress

Configuring - Automatic Publishing
  1. Make sure you have downloaded, installed, and activated the Social Discussions WordPress plugin.

  2. If not already done, signup for an account on LinksAlpha.com.

  3. Add your Social Network Profiles from the LinksAlpha Networks Manager.




  4. Get your User API key to add to the plugin Settings page.

  5. From your WordPress Admin console, load Settings page for the Social Discussions plugin(WordPress Admin Console > Settings > Social Discussions).

  6. Expand the section titled - "Auto Publish on Social Networks".



  7. Add the User API key(from Step 4 above) into the input box labelled "Add API Key".

  8. Your Publication should now be configured. Next time you publish a blog post, it will also get posted to each of the configured Networks.


  9. To get options for the Publication, click on the Options link next to each Publication. To learn more about options, click here.

  10. To make sure all publications are configured as expected, make sure your Publish Method is set to "Direct" in the Options window.


Configuring - Social Buttons
  1. Make sure you have downloaded, installed, and activated the Social Discussions WordPress plugin.

  2. From your WordPress Admin console, load Settings page for the Social Discussions plugin(WordPress Admin Console > Settings > Social Discussions).

  3. Expand the section titled - "Social Buttons".


  4. Under Select Style, you can switch between different widget styles and the options below will change. By default, Style 1, and 3 are selected and the related widget will show on the top and bottom of your blog post respectively.

  5. Once you have selected a Style, you should be able to select/set the Networks, Location, Facebook options, Twitter options... and more depending on the Style.

  6. For each style that you want to show on your posts, Check the checkbox the box under the "Show Style".

  7. Once you have made the required changes, click on "Save Changes" button.

  8. Now expand rest of the sections as required, which include -

    1. Social Button Languages - set language in which the Social Buttons will show up.



    2. Facebook Options - set Facebook specific options.



    3. Google Plus Options - set Google Plus specific options.



    4. Twitter Optionsset Twitter specific options.



    5. Display Pages - select the WordPress page types on which the buttons will be shown on your website.



Manual Configuration - Social Buttons
  1. Make sure you have downloaded, installed, and activated the Social Discussions WordPress plugin.

  2. For Manually positioning the Social Sharing Buttons in your blog in place the below given code in the index.php file or any other file as you see appropriate in themes folder (...\wordpress\wp-content\themes). Note: if you are using 'default' theme for the WordPress plugin, then place the above code in single.php:

    1. Social Sharing Buttons with Counters

      <?php laecho_wp_filter_content_widget(); ?>

    2. Social Sharing Buttons without Counters:

      <?php laecho_wp_filter_content(); ?>

    3. Social Sharing Icons:

      <?php laecho_wp_filter_buttons_icons(); ?>

    4. Social Sharing Icon

      <?php laecho_wp_filter_buttons_icon(); ?>

  3. Once you have completed the above step, perform the following:

    1. From your WordPress Admin console, load Settings page for the Social Discussions plugin(WordPress Admin Console > Settings > Social Discussions).

    2. Expand the section for "Social Buttons".


    3. Under "Select Style", select the appropriate style for which you got the code from above: 

      1. Style 1 is - Social Sharing Buttons with Counters.

      2. Style 2 is - Social Sharing Buttons without Counters.

      3. Style 3 is - Social Sharing Icons.

      4. Style 4 is - Social Sharing Icon.

    4. Check the checkbox the box under the "Show Style" and submit by clicking on "Save Changes".
